Update: a message from International Music Summit founders
After consultation with the host venue Destino, it is with regret that IMS staff have to announce that event in Ibiza will not take place this year and the 13th edition of the summit will be rescheduled next May 2021. “We have been monitoring the COVID-19 situation closely, hoping for it to stabilise and allow us to hold the summit, but unfortunately this is no longer a viable option. The health and safety of our community and containing the spread of infection must take priority and given the current travel restrictions across the UK and Europe we recognise the difficulty that our delegates will have in being able to plan their trips”, say Ben Turner.
“IMS Ibiza is largely funded by ticket revenue and much of this income has already been invested in producing the summit. We will be offering badge and hotel refunds to all delegates who request, but we ask our community where possible to transfer their tickets to the 2021 event to ensure the long term survival of the summit. Delegates will be contacted soon to confirm their preference, we thank you in advance for your patience whilst we navigate this unprecedented situation. Thank you to our partners Pioneer DJ, Skiddle, Ultra Music and shesaid.so for their ongoing support of IMS and helping us to continue to unite our industry and implement progressive change”.
IMS will be producing a virtual edition of the 2020 summit and will release more news on this soon. “The COVID-19 pandemic will have a deep and long lasting impact on the global community, we would like to take this opportunity to express our deepest sympathies and solidarity with all those that have been affected. Once the current situation has stabilised, we pledge to work with our friends and colleagues in the industry to find solutions to support all those in the electronic music ecosystem that will be directly impacted by ongoing cancellations, illness, financial uncertainty and self-isolation. IMS was launched in 2007 during a crisis moment for electronic music; we are as committed now as we were then to driving our industry forward”.
